History

FERONA Slovakia, a.s. is a direct successor of the Prvá akciová spoločnosť pre obchod so železom, which was established in the year 1919 in Bratislava.

- in 1933 transformed to FOŽ and changed its registered office to Žilina

- in 1946 took over activities of companies Manesmann and Fleischer&Schriger in Slovakia, what made it a dominant distributor of metallurgical products in the Slovak part of the then Czechoslovakia

- in 1948, still under the brand FOŽ, nationalised

- in 1965 transformed to Hutná odbytová základňa (at that time it already had operations in Žilina, Martin, Bratislava and Košice)

- in 1972 the FERONA brand created – a federal state organisation FERONA was established, into which the Hutná odbytová základňa was incorporated

- in 1995 privatised, when members of the management became majority shareholders – company FERONA a.s. with registered office in Prague with 11 branch offices – among others also in Žilina, Bratislava and Košice - was established

- in 1997 company FERONA Slovakia, a.s. with registered office in Žilina has been established, whose only shareholder is FERONA a.s.
